WNBA expanding to 50 games in 2027 in latest sign of league’s growth

The WNBA’s rapid growth has taken another step. The league announced Wednesday that it’s expanding its season from 44 games to 50 beginning in 2027. “Demand for the WNBA has never been greater, and expanding to a 50-game regular season reflects the extraordinary momentum we are seeing across the league,” WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert said in a press release.
