The Mets could have fallen into oblivion on their last road trip after losing the first two games in Seattle last week. And yet, they recovered to win three of four games, bringing at least a measure of optimism to Citi Field as they prepare for the Cardinals and Braves on this homestand. The Mets (29-36) are somehow only five games behind the third wild-card spot in a muddled National League, behind the division leaders.
