The Knicks’ previous run to the Finals, way back in the 20th century, produced two iconic moments and two epic series but ultimately ended in disappointment. As much as Jalen Brunson’s crew has, the ’99 Knicks captivated NYC as they squeezed through controversy, a changing roster and the nasty East. The Post spoke Thursday with four members of that team — Chris Childs, Charlie Ward, Kurt Thomas and GM Ed Tapscott — about some of the biggest shots in franchise history, the “hand-to-hand combat” battles with the Heat and Pacers, the delight of seeing a teammate’s son now leading the Knicks, and a belief the 2026 version is better equipped to win the title.
