Yankees recall Anthony Volpe with Jose Caballero likely headed to IL

BALTIMORE — Anthony Volpe is back in the big leagues. The Yankees called up the shortstop on Tuesday with José Caballero placed on the injured list with a right middle finger fracture ahead of their game against the Orioles at Camden Yards, a source confirmed to The Post. Volpe had been optioned to Triple-A last week after his rehab assignment expired, with Caballero delivering strong play on both sides of the ball to change the Yankees’ original plan to reinsert Volpe as their starting shortstop.
