‘Ted Lasso’ star Cristo Fernandez getting pro soccer chance with USL’s Locomotive FC

Cristo Fernández — better known to millions of fans as Dani Rojas — is giving his professional soccer dreams one more chance.   Fernández, who donned the soccer jersey of the fictional Premier League club AFC Richmond on the Apple TV series “Ted Lasso,” is on an informal tryout with USL Championship side the El Paso Locomotive FC, and appeared in their preseason match over the weekend against New Mexico.   He played 30 minutes in El Paso’s win and was seen in a social media post by the club celebrating with his teammates.
